Where Rajendran Took Us

From the back seat of the Ambassador, we saw a lot of wonderful and interesting things.

Take this, for example. There are probably 50 times as many motorcycles in Chennai than I have seen in any American city. You are always surrounded by them wherever you go. At every stop light, they all pull up in front of all of the waiting cars, and form a block about 4 deep.

"Lady Police", Rajendran called her

For some reason, I just loved this strip of billboards.

Rajendran also us to Chennai's beach--the widest stretch of sand I've ever seen

Lots of boats that belong to the local fishermen--what IS an Unwind Center?

Fishermen live in small, makeshift villages on the beach, very close to their boats.

They sleep there during the middle of the day, and they fish mostly in the mornings, and then again beginning late in the evening.

It was a very similar arrangement to the one we saw at the flower/produce market. Sellers would be up very early in the morning to do their thing, and then by 3 or 4 pm they would close up and go to sleep, right there beside their stalls.
